(Patria) - On November 11, Canada pays tribute to all fallen Canadian soldiers in service to their country.
More than 40,000 members of the Canadian Armed Forces served in the mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including 23 members who lost their lives for Bosnia and Herzegovina during that mission.
This November 11, tens of thousands of Canadians, along with political, academic, diplomatic, and spiritual leaders of Canada, paid tribute to the fallen Canadian soldiers in front of the National War Memorial in Ottawa by laying a wreath at the monument.
The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Canada, Aleksandar Bogdanić, this time laid a wreath on behalf of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Last year, the ambassador did not participate in the Remembrance Day ceremony. The Bosnian diaspora in Canada reacted sharply at the time.
The result is this year's presence at the ceremony and the laying of a wreath.
This example also shows that the diaspora can have not only a voting and financial role, but also a significant strategic role in promoting and strengthening Bosnian state interests. Where diplomacy fails due to entity or party-specific, particular interests, the diaspora can and will succeed.
