Al Jazeera Balkans aired its last news broadcast, will air reruns until the end of the month and then shut down the signal

(Patria) - By airing its last news broadcast today at 12:25 PM, Al Jazeera Balkans officially ceased operations.

Al Jazeera Balkans will continue broadcasting previously recorded content until the end of this month, after which the signal will be shut down.

This will mark the end of the regional television project AJB in the Balkans, which lasted fourteen years.

The management of Al Jazeera has not yet announced an official reason for this decision.

Employees also bid farewell to viewers on the media's portal, stating that the entire Al Jazeera Balkans team is proud of every one of the 4,970 days they spent serving viewers and readers.

Al Jazeera Balkans covered the regional market with offices in Belgrade, Zagreb, Podgorica, Skopje, Ljubljana, and Pristina.

It has been present in Sarajevo since mid-September 2010. In 2018, Al Jazeera Balkans established AJB DOC, a documentary film festival held in Sarajevo every September.
