(Patria) - Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, Gordana Tadić, with her associates and officials of the Special Department for War Crimes, held a meeting with representatives of the Permanent Judicial Panel for War Crimes of the BiH Court.
The meeting is part of regular activities in accordance with the State Strategy for Work on War Crimes Cases, and the meetings discuss practical issues that are important for the efficiency of processing war crimes cases and overcoming difficulties that arise in practice.
The meeting also discussed recommendations given after the meeting with the Chief Prosecutor of the MICT, Serge Brammertz, which relate to accelerating the processing of war crimes cases and maintaining high judicial standards in case processing.
Also, one of the topics of the meeting concerned the referral of war crimes cases for processing to judicial institutions in neighboring countries, in cases where indictments have been confirmed and the accused are unavailable to the BiH judiciary, especially in indictments filed in Category II cases forwarded from the ICTY, with the coordination and supervision of the ICTY/MICT Prosecutor's Office.
This issue is extremely important, due to the existence of dozens of cases in which indictments have been filed, and the accused are located in neighboring countries. Resolving this situation is extremely important in the fight against impunity for war crimes in the region.
Meetings of officials of the BiH Prosecutor's Office and the Permanent Judicial Panel for War Crimes are held continuously, with the aim of accelerating work on war crimes cases and improving the efficiency of judicial institutions in this area.
