Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission and Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, December 5, it was officially announced today from Brussels, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
During the visit, they will meet with the leaders of BiH institutions, leaders of political parties and members of civil society organizations to discuss reforms and BiH's European integration process.
- Following the recently held elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country has an opportunity to resume the reform process in order to meet the expectations of its citizens and continue its path towards the EU. During the visit, we will talk with the new leadership of the country to see if there is political will to initiate a process that will return the country to that path. If the new leadership of BiH is ready to engage in reforms, the EU is also ready to engage - said High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini ahead of her visit to Sarajevo.
Commissioner Hahn added:
- With this visit, we want to once again express the European Union's support for the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and confirm our commitment to progress in achieving the perspective of EU membership. At the same time, elected BiH leaders must deliver results, in the interest of their citizens – especially when it comes to economic reforms.
