Afforestation campaign in the ZDK region on the occasion of the International Day of Forests

(Patria) - The International Day of Forests is celebrated on March 21. This day aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving forest ecosystems, as well as the role of forests in maintaining ecosystem balance.

"Forests and economies" is the theme of the International Day of Forests 2026, highlighting the key role of forests in promoting economic prosperity.

Forests play an invaluable role in preserving climate, water, and soil. Their significance far exceeds the direct benefits from forest production and raw material trade.

By supporting agriculture, food production, energy supply, and many other areas, forests contribute to the global economy by creating and supporting millions of jobs worldwide.

On this occasion, the Government of ZDK invited citizens, institutions, associations, and all other interested parties to join afforestation campaigns, in which the Cantonal Forestry Administration traditionally participates, in cooperation with the Public Enterprise Forest-Economic Society of ZDK.

All those interested in participating in afforestation campaigns can get more detailed information through the Forest-Economic Society, forestry departments, and the Cantonal Administration departments in all cities and municipalities of ZDK.

As in previous years, the Public Enterprise Forest-Economic Society of Zenica-Doboj Canton provides areas for planting, seedlings, tools, as well as all other necessities for the successful implementation of the mentioned campaigns.

"Regarding the aforementioned activities, we inform all interested parties from the city of Zenica that afforestation will be carried out at the Zmajevac site, in compartment number 49/4 of the economic unit 'Stranjanska rijeka'," announced the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management - Cantonal Forestry Administration of ZDK.
