Academician Enes Karić Wins 'Derviš Sušić' Award for Best Literary Work in BiH Published in 2025

(Patria) - The first literary gathering "Derviš Sušić" concluded in Tuzla with the award for the best literary work published in Bosnia and Herzegovina during 2025. According to the unanimous decision of the expert jury, the recognition was awarded to academician Enes Karić for the novel "Zime zaručnice".

The recipient was presented with the Charter and Plaque "Derviš Sušić", as well as a monetary prize in the amount of 3,000 KM.

The event was held on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the birth of Derviš Sušić, one of the most significant Bosnian-Herzegovinian writers whose work still holds an important place in the cultural and literary heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the multi-day program, literary discussions, book promotions, meetings between authors and readers, and other content dedicated to literature and culture were held.

Organizers assessed that the first edition of the event met expectations and attracted significant public attention, which is why there is an intention for the "Derviš Sušić Literary Gatherings" to grow into a traditional cultural event.

The organizer and initiator of the gathering was the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Tuzla Canton, which simultaneously launched an initiative to the Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton for one of the elementary schools in the canton to be named after Derviš Sušić.

According to the organizers, such a move would represent a lasting expression of respect for the writer whose work left a deep mark on Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature and the country's cultural identity.
