Legal team: There is no legal basis for punishing Novalić

(Patria) - "Due to the huge public interest and inquiries from media outlets, Mr. Fadil Novalić's legal team informs the public that it is true that, without prior notification of the reasons for his punishment and any written act, Mr. Novalić's legal right to make telephone contact with family and lawyers was illegally revoked on January 7, 2025," announced Novalić's lawyers, Senad Pećanin and Elmir Jahić.

They emphasize that "by prohibiting telephone contact with family and lawyers, Novalić was denied a right guaranteed by the Law on Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Detention and Other Measures of Bosnia and Herzegovina".

"In the manner in which he was illegally denied the exercise of his rights, he was also illegally denied the use of legal remedies available to him.

Fadil Novalić's legal team will continue its activities in protecting his fundamental human rights guaranteed by the European Convention, the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the laws, demanding that the competent authorities immediately cease the practice of illegal treatment towards him," stated Pećanin and Jahić.
