33rd Anniversary of the Battle for Trebević: 29 Members of the First Mountain Brigade of the ARBiH Killed, 64 Wounded

(Patria) - The 33rd anniversary of the battle for Trebević was marked today at the Kovači Memorial Complex, in which 29 members of the First Mountain Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina were killed and 64 wounded.

Tribute was paid to the fallen members of this brigade.

The then commander of the First Mountain Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and participant in the battle, Mesud Lagumdžija, stated that he himself was wounded during the battle and that the survivors must speak about these events while there are still those who remember them "first-hand."

He emphasized that in addition to Bosniaks, there were also Croats and Serbs in that brigade, recalling his comrade Pero Stanić, who gave his life during the battle for Trebević and showed what it means to be a patriot.

The Minister for Veterans' Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, said that we owe gratitude to those principled and patriotic people who had the strength to defend Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina in those days. He stressed that a lesson must be drawn from those heroic deeds.

In the offensive operations of the Army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the slopes of Trebević, the following gave their lives: Nedim Ajanović, Haris Bašić, Edib Čorda, Avdo Hodžić, Kenan Imširpašić, Mirsad Mešić, Senad Osmanagić, Fikret Redžo, Mustafa Smajović, Edmir Babović, Almir Džafo, Emir Delić, Nuraga Hodžić, Kerim Kasapović, Šaban Omerović, Čedomilj Perak, Samir Ribić, Pero Stanić, Ahmedin Zejnilhodžić, Mustafa Barlov, Sejfo Džano, Armin Hasanović, Emir Imamović, Enver Kurtović, Alija Oruč, Sanjin Ramović, Edhem Selimović, Nasib Velić and Nuraga Hodžić.
