(Patria) - More than 16,000 residents of Ostend in Frankfurt were evacuated on Sunday due to the deactivation of a World War II bomb.
Traffic was rerouted, the zoo was closed while experts worked on the all-day deactivation of the bomb.
75 years after the end of World War II, unexploded bombs can still be found in Germany.
The American bomb, weighing more than 500 kg, was located last month during construction work, but authorities decided to deactivate it on Sunday to avoid major disruptions to normal life and business flows in Germany's financial center.
