Zvornik: RS Police Again Searched Bosniak Houses

The Republika Srpska police searched the house of a Bosniak returnee in Zvornik, and after several hours the investigators simply left the area, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Local Radio Glas Drine reported that on Wednesday the police searched the house of a Bosniak returnee in the village of Dardagani near Zvornik, but even the homeowner is not clear what the police were looking for at his home.

In recent months, the RS MUP has frequently searched the homes of Bosniak returnees, arrested them, but the Bosniaks are soon released. The police and prosecutors justify the arrest operations against Bosniaks as a fight against terrorism. Although since the summer of this year dozens of Bosniaks have been detained and questioned, prosecutors from the RS have not managed to find any connection to terrorists for any of them.

Human rights organizations warn that this constitutes serious human rights violations, and that many returnees are again subjected to torture, for which the prosecutor's offices and police in the RS most often have no justification.

Organizations that gather returnees in the RS warn that the authorities are pursuing a policy of intimidation against Bosniaks, sending them a clear message that they are not welcome in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes NAP.
