Zvizdić in Washington discussed with Congressman Sean Maloney

(Patria) - Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Denis Zvizdić, discussed in Washington with Congressman Sean Maloney about the political situation in BiH and the active engagement of the US in contributing to the security and stability of the Western Balkans.

Chairman Zvizdić thanked for the strong support of American congressmen in helping BiH implement reforms on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration.

Dr. Zvizdić said that Bosnia and Herzegovina had strong momentum in achieving goals aimed at Euro-Atlantic integration, further strengthening democratic institutions and the rule of law, respecting human rights, and fighting corruption, but that this progress has been halted due to the unconstitutional blockade of state institutions carried out by individuals from the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity of RS.

During the meeting, Chairman Zvizdić informed Congressman Maloney that the constitutional and legal order of BiH is threatened, and that the Armed Forces of BiH, the Court and Prosecutor's Office of BiH, as well as the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH are particularly under attack.

Chairman Zvizdić particularly emphasized the issue of state property, which, as he stressed, is closely linked to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state, and informed Congressman Maloney about the illegal attempts to transfer state property to the entity level. They agreed that this is in complete contradiction with international and domestic law and with the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH.

Chairman Zvizdić said that the majority of citizens want peace and security and that Bosnia and Herzegovina's efforts must remain focused on the most important foreign policy priorities, which are accession to NATO and the European Union, which will create prerequisites for permanent peace, long-term stability, and economic progress.

Congressman Maloney said that the US firmly stands behind the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH, and that they remain a stable partner and real support in the realization of Euro-Atlantic goals, economic progress, and strengthening the rule of law.
