BRUSSELS, (Patria) - At the invitation of the High Representative of the European Union and Vice-President of the European Commission for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić attended the meeting of Western Balkan leaders in Brussels today.
During his address, Chairman Zvizdić emphasized the importance of dialogue continuity and stated that regional cooperation and mutual trust are key to improving political and economic relations, attracting foreign investment, maintaining stability, and advancing the reconciliation process.
He said that BiH is committed to the principles, goals, and values of the European Union and will continue to work on progress in all processes in the coming period, with a special focus on socio-economic reforms.
Chairman Zvizdić stated that BiH is currently in the finalization phase of responding to additional questions from the European Commission as part of the preparation of the Opinion on BiH's application for EU membership.
He highlighted the importance of the European Union's continuous engagement in supporting stability and strengthening political and economic ties within the Western Balkan region, as well as the European Union's ties with our region.
He emphasized that BiH remains fully committed to the further continuation of regional cooperation in order to preserve peace and stability, and stressed the necessity of respecting international obligations, as well as commitments undertaken from existing regional and international agreements, with a focus on the CEFTA agreement and the Stabilization and Association Agreement.
Chairman Zvizdić stated that the principle of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country is a prerequisite for further stabilization and prosperity, not only for each country individually but also for the entire region, and expressed optimism that the continuation of dialogue based on mutual respect and positive political will will lead to joint efforts in realizing key priorities in the entire Western Balkan region.
The meeting was attended by the presidents of Serbia, Montenegro, and Kosovo, the prime minister of Macedonia, and the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn.
