Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić received today in Sarajevo an IMF delegation led by the Head of the Mission for BiH Nadeem Ilahi, with whom he discussed reform processes in BiH and the conclusion of a new credit arrangement, Patria reports.
Discussions were held on open issues related to the continuation of reform processes and consolidation of the financial sector in BiH in light of concluding a new arrangement with the IMF.
Chairman Zvizdić emphasized that he views the IMF as a partner institution that helps Bosnia and Herzegovina in regulating and consolidating the financial situation. He added that a new arrangement with the IMF would bring fiscal stability to all levels of government in BiH, enable the continuation of initiated reform processes, and accelerate the Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Head of the IMF Mission for BiH Ilahi said that the IMF is satisfied with the progress made so far in reforms. He expressed the expectation that some open issues, such as the exchange of data on taxpayers between entity tax administrations and better coordination of banking sector control in BiH, will be resolved quickly. He emphasized that the IMF supports the independence of the Central Bank of BiH, whose role is key in maintaining the stability and liquidity of the financial system.
The IMF Mission will stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the next week, where it will hold talks with representatives of all levels of government in BiH on the possibility of a new arrangement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and this financial institution.
