Zvizdić Welcomes the Decision of the Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH on the Court's Ruling Regarding the Registration of a Military Facility

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić welcomes the decision of the Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH on the Court's ruling regarding the registration of the military facility Stacionarno-komunikacijsko čvorište „Veliki Žep“ in the municipality of Han Pijesak as property of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will contribute to the accelerated process of activating the Action Plan for NATO membership, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Following the adoption of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and the Decision on the Coordination System of the European Integration Process in BiH, the decision of the Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH represents an additional incentive for the Council of Ministers of BiH and all Bosnian-Herzegovinian institutions for further work on EU and NATO integrations, which are synonymous with peace, stability and economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the past period, 23 prospective military property locations have been registered as state property of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity of Republika Srpska, there are six such locations, and the military facility in Han Pijesak is the first facility that will be registered as BiH property and will simultaneously open the door for Bosnia and Herzegovina to NATO membership.

The registration process is based on legal and technical arguments and is founded on legal solutions. In the coming period, for the registration process, the Ministry of Defence of BiH has prepared 63 military locations located on the territory of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ministry of Defence of BiH, in cooperation with competent institutions, will take the necessary measures to implement this ruling.

With this decision of the Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH, conditions have been met for the MAP to be activated at the next NATO summit, thereby opening the door to membership in this alliance.
