Zvizdić: There can only be one Central Bank, no transfer of competencies

Continuous and unsuccessful attacks on the integrity and competencies of BiH institutions are ongoing. The latest in a series is Milorad Dodik's unconstitutional attack on the competencies and position of the Central Bank of BiH, says BiH Prime Minister Denis Zvizdić.

- I want to remind Mr. Dodik, as well as all those who may intend to participate in such unconstitutional activities, that in accordance with Article III of the BiH Constitution, monetary policy is exclusively within the jurisdiction of the state of BiH, and the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only authorized institution for monetary policy and printing money throughout the territory of BiH, which is clearly defined in Article VII of the BiH Constitution. At the same time, Article 3 of the Law on the Central Bank of BiH is clear and states that the Central Bank, in its competencies, is completely independent of the entities, and of any agency and body and other persons.

Therefore, in one, unified and sovereign state like BiH and in one economic area, there can only be one central bank and a unified monetary policy. This is how it is now and how it will remain, and certainly, the competencies in the area of monetary policy, nor any other competencies of BiH, will never be transferred to the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina's entities as lower levels of government.

In addition, the Central Bank of BiH successfully fulfills its task, defined by law and the Constitution, which is to ensure monetary and thus financial stability in the country, while maintaining the convertibility of the domestic currency, which enjoys the full trust of citizens and economic entities - Zvizdić's reaction states.
