Zvizdić and Mektić with FATF: BiH Institutions Committed to Fighting Terrorism

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić and Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić discussed today in Sarajevo with the technical mission of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF - Financial Action Task Force) on the implementation of legal and sub-legal regulations in the area of ​​preventing the financing of terrorism and money laundering.

Chairman Zvizdić informed the FATF delegation about the priorities of the Council of Ministers of BiH and emphasized the commitment to the European path, economic development, and maintaining stability, including the fight against all forms of crime and terrorism.

He stressed Bosnia and Herzegovina's commitment to establishing a secure system for preventing money laundering and terrorist financing by implementing the Action Plan, created based on FATF recommendations. He expressed expectations that this visit will result in a positive report that will enable our country to be removed from the FATF grey list at its plenary session next month, which would be a positive signal for all businessmen, as well as citizens of BiH.

Minister Mektić emphasized the commitment of BiH institutions to fighting terrorism and added that the implementation of the Action Plan proceeded more slowly due to the specific constitutional structure of BiH, but that an effective system was ultimately established.

Chairman Zvizdić and Minister Mektić emphasized that by implementing the Action Plan, adopting twenty legal and sub-legal regulations at the state and entity levels, this job is not finished and highlighted our country's commitment to continuously continue the fight against terrorist financing and the prevention of money laundering.

FATF representatives praised the work of the Council of Ministers of BiH on the implementation of the Action Plan and expressed satisfaction with the progress made. They emphasized that the implementation of the Action Plan is only the first step in the fight against terrorist financing and the prevention of money laundering.
