Zvizdić: Long-awaited justice and partial satisfaction for victims

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Today's verdict by the Hague Tribunal, which established the existence of a joint criminal enterprise and sentenced the leaders of the Herceg-Bosna para-state to 111 years in prison, represents long-awaited justice and partial satisfaction for the victims of crimes, said the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić.

- The verdict is based on civilizational standards and norms of international law and fully corresponds to relevant and proven historical facts. Therefore, in the long run, it will put an end to attempts to rehabilitate the idea of so-called Herceg-Bosna or similar para-state, secessionist, or hegemonic projects, because it carries a strong message and lesson that everyone, especially those who are currently disputing it, will eventually have to accept.

Therefore, I expect Croatian officials, both in BiH and Croatia, to distance themselves from the indisputably established responsibility of the convicted military and political leadership of the so-called Herceg-Bosna for committed crimes and participation in a joint criminal enterprise, because only on justice and truth can a prosperous future be built for future generations.

Of course, it is important to emphasize that out of respect for the victims and their families, we will never forget the crime and the criminals, but we must separate the convicted "six" from the Croatian people, because it is about the individual guilt of those who planned and committed war crimes and crimes against humanity.

It is necessary to truly believe in coexistence and persistently build an environment that will lead to the construction of lasting peace, real trust, and a prosperous future for BiH - stated Denis Zvizdić in his reaction.
