Hamas Official: Whoever Succeeds Haniyeh Will Have the Same Vision

(Patria) - Senior official of the Palestinian Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya, told reporters in Iran that whoever succeeds the organization's political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, killed yesterday, will follow the same vision in negotiations to end the war and continue the same policy of resistance against Israel.

Al-Hayya addressed reporters a few hours after Haniyeh was killed by a missile in Tehran. Hamas and Iran have condemned Israel for this assassination, although Israel has not commented on it.

(Patria) - Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran, announced the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC). According to Daily Sabah, his bodyguard was also killed.

Al-Hayya believes that Haniyeh's death will not affect the organization's ability to fight.

However, the Shura Council, the main consultative body, is expected to meet soon, most likely after Haniyeh's funeral in Qatar, to appoint his successor.

Hani al-Masri, an expert on Palestinian organizations, said that the choice is most likely between Khaled Mashaal, former Hamas leader, and Khalil al-Hayya.
