(Patria) - Ships are receiving messages from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard warning that "no vessel is allowed passage through the Strait of Hormuz".
This was stated to the Reuters news agency by an official from the European Union's naval mission Aspides.
The Strait of Hormuz represents one of the world's most important oil export routes, connecting the largest oil producers in the Persian Gulf, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates, with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
The official stated that Iran has not formally confirmed such an order, but Tehran has threatened for years to block this narrow waterway in response to a potential attack.
