(Patria) - Officials investigating the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk have given conflicting statements about whether the suspected attacker is in custody, Reuters reported.
FBI Director Kash Patel said one person is in custody, while local police officials said the attacker is at large.
He said on social media X that "a person" is in custody.
Shortly after, Beau Mason, head of the Utah Department of Public Safety, said the suspect is still at large.
"While the suspect is at large, we believe this was a targeted attack," he said.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said the "person of interest" is in custody.
