Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina Melvin Asin visited Zenica today on the occasion of the official start of the construction of the new building of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) Prosecutor's Office, financed by the EU in the amount of approximately 1.4 million euros, writes the Patria News Agency.
I am pleased to be here today with the Prime Minister and the Chief Prosecutor to officially mark the start of construction of this facility. The EU has financed this project, and it is a sign that the EU attaches importance to improving the work of judicial institutions. I am pleased to be here and I hope that in a year I will have the honor to attend the opening of the building – said Asin.
The ceremony marking the start was also addressed by the Prime Minister of ZDK Miralem Galijašević, Chief Prosecutor of ZDK Vesna Kaknjo, and member of the Presidency of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH Zijad Kadrić.
- This is an opportunity to thank the EU and I hope that with this we are creating conditions for an independent and technically equipped Prosecutor's Office – said Galijašević.
Kaknjo said that with the construction of this building, the Prosecutor's Office will receive everything it has lacked until now.
- I still can't believe we are standing here. I thank everyone involved in this project – said Kaknjo.
After the ceremony, Asin, accompanied by Galijašević and other guests, visited the construction site located next to the Municipal Court building in Zenica.
Construction work on the ZDK Prosecutor's Office building began in March this year, it was announced from the EU Delegation to BiH.
