Crime in Grabovica committed 27 years ago, 33 Croats killed

(Patria) - Today marks the 27th anniversary of the crime against 33 Croats killed by members of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH, from the 9th Mountain Brigade unit.

The youngest victim was four-year-old Mladenka Zadro, and the oldest was 87-year-old Marko Marić.

Two boys, Goran and Zoran Zadro, survived this horrific massacre, hiding in the bushes and watching as their grandparents, father and mother, and little sister were killed.

The following persons were killed: Josip Brekalo (1939) and his wife Luca (1939); Pero Čuljak (1913) and Matija Čuljak (1917), Luca's parents; from the Drežnjak surname – Andrija (1921) and his wife Mara (1921), Dragica (1953), their daughter, Živko (1923) and his wife Ljubica (1932); Jozo Ištuk (1930); Cvitan Lovrić (1936) and his wife Jela (1940); Mara Mandić (1912) and Ivan Mandić (1935); from the Marić surname – Pero (1914) and his wife Dragica (1914), Ilka (1921), Ruža (1956), Martin (1911), Marinko (1941) and his wife Luca (1944), Marko (1906) and his wife Matija (1907), Ruža (1935); Ilka Miletić (1926); Anica Pranjić (1914); Franjo Ravlić (1918); Ivan Šarić (1939); from the Zadro surname – Ivan (1924) and his wife Matija (1923), Mladen (1956) and his wife Ljubica (1956) and Mladenka their daughter (1989).

Željko Komšić, member of the Presidency of BiH, today recalled the anniversary of the crime.

"As a member of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I am ashamed of those who committed this crime, knowing how just and honorable the fight of our Army of RBiH was. The victims of this crime must not be forgotten, may they rest in peace," Komšić wrote.
