Shepherd's life in eastern Turkey: So much snow fell that even sheep walk in single file - one by one

(Patria) - Mazgirt is a town and the seat of the district of the same name in the province of Tunceli in eastern Turkey. It is a place surrounded by mountains, rising to 1,412 meters above sea level.

According to the 2021 census, 1,344 inhabitants live in Mazgirt - mostly Kurds, who are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, reports Punkufer.hr.

Summers in Mazgirt are hot, dry, and clear, and winters are icy and cloudy. Although temperatures rarely drop below -13°C in winter, a lot of snow falls, creating difficulties in daily life.

And when snow falls in this region, it is a challenge to feed the population and animals properly and meet all their life needs. This is confirmed by the photos taken by Malik Kaya in Mazgirt.

This photographer of natural beauties from Anatolia captured surreal scenes - hundreds of sheep calmly passing through narrow paths through high snowdrifts.

In some parts of the road, the passage is so narrow that the sheep have to move one by one.

Led by a local shepherd and dogs, the sheep calmly cross even a small bridge, all to reach safety.
