Zivkovic: We fought for Republika Srpska, now we are helping Russia

Chetniks from Serbia who came to occupied Crimea as volunteers fought in Bosnia and Herzegovina for Republika Srpska, said Bratislav Zivkovic, one of the Chetniks in a report by the increasingly popular global network “Vice News”, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

The most famous reporter of this media house, Simon Ostrovski, spoke with Zivkovic on several occasions, including a situation at one of the checkpoints between Sevastopol and Simferopol, the two largest cities in Crimea.

Zivkovic, uniformed, with a fur hat and cockade, controlled the checkpoint and vehicles there. Reporter Ostrovski commented on this, saying that it is an “unbelievable situation that Chetniks from Serbia are standing on barricades in an occupied part of Ukraine.”

- I came from Krusevac. Tsar Lazar set out for Kosovo from there, it is the old capital of Serbia – said Zivkovic, confirming that he, as well as other Chetniks in Crimea, had also fought in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Kosovo. He did not mention war crimes or genocide. 

When asked by Ostrovski why they came to Crimea, Zivkovic said that Russian volunteers had also fought in BiH and Kosovo, and now they had come to help Russia.

- In the last wars in Republika Srpska, there were many Russian volunteers under the command of Duke Slavko Aleksic. We came here to support the referendum and to share our experiences with barricades with them – said Zivkovic.
