FIERCE REACTION Begović: It's not the first time Schmidt belittles genocide victims, the question is with what intention?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Nura Begović, president of the Association "Women of Srebrenica" in a statement for Politicki.ba said that Christian Schmidt's statement today at a conference in Budapest is not the first "with which the High Representative insults the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica".

"What kind of 'style of genocide' is the High Representative talking about. Western? Eastern? Less strong and important? More strong and important? Does he even know what he is saying? The court rulings have said everything about the strength of the genocide and the consequences it caused, and Schmidt cannot now classify genocide according to some of his own styles. I ask what his intention is," Nura Begović told Politicki.ba, not hiding her anger over Schmidt's statement today.

Begović states that this is not the first time that Schmidt, when talking about genocide and genocide victims, "talks nonsense" and that she, at a meeting with victims, asked him "if he was perhaps ill".

"I fear that behind his outbursts like this lies the intention to belittle the victims of genocide and thus minimize the story of genocide, which is what the policies that committed genocide have been doing for years," says Begović.

Begović, on behalf of the victims, thanks everyone who immediately reacted to what she calls Christian Schmidt's "insolent statements", which, she says, the victims of genocide will "remember well".
