Zenica miners stopped production

ZENICA, (Patria) - Miners of the Zenica Brown Coal Mine stopped work in all pits today after the mine's accounts were blocked and hot meals were not paid to the workers.

Miners from the Breza mine also announced a strike.

Nearly 2,800 miners from the Zenica and Breza mines are halting production in all pits due to unpaid hot meals, after the Tax Administration blocked the mines' accounts due to tax and contribution arrears exceeding 200 million KM.

A meeting between the miners and representatives of the FBiH Government is scheduled for September 9, while the miners announced a gathering in front of the FBiH Government building the day after.

The president of the Steering Committee of the Independent Union of Miners of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sinan Husić, stated that an agreement on performing minimal work in the Zenica mine during the miners' strike was signed on Friday.
