Zelensky visits wounded soldiers in New York ahead of UN address

(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with wounded Ukrainian soldiers in a New York hospital on Monday ahead of addressing world leaders at the United Nations.

On his first visit to the UN since the Russian invasion in February 2022, Zelensky is scheduled to speak at the annual General Assembly on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

He traveled straight from the airport after landing in New York on Monday to Staten Island University Hospital, where Ukrainian soldiers were being treated after amputations.

After New York, he will go to Washington, where a meeting with US President Joe Biden and members of Congress awaits him.

In a post on Telegram, Zelensky said he also plans to meet with military and business officials.
