(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the visit of European Council President Charles Michel to Odesa. On his official Telegram channel, Zelensky said: "It is important to prevent a global food crisis caused by Russia's aggressive actions. Urgent measures must be taken to unblock Ukrainian ports for wheat exports. I appreciate the brave stance of the President of the European Council and his personal presence in Odesa. I am grateful for the EU's continuous support for our country in many areas."
Michel had to take shelter with his hosts during his visit to Odesa due to attacks on the Ukrainian city, European officials announced. During a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, "participants had to urgently interrupt the meeting and hide due to missile attacks in the region," the BBC reported.
Michel visited the city in southwestern Ukraine to see for himself the impact of the Russian war on global food supplies. The head of the Ukrainian Navy informed him about the damage caused by Russian missiles, and he also visited destroyed residential buildings in the city.
