Zelensky: Over 3,000 North Korean soldiers killed or wounded in Kursk

(Patria) - More than 3,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded in fighting against Ukrainian forces in the Russian region of Kursk, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today.

"According to initial information, the number of killed or wounded North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region has exceeded 3,000," Zelensky wrote on X.

The South Korean military, on the other hand, announced that more than 1,100 North Korean soldiers have been killed or injured since the start of fighting on Russia's side, and that the North Korean army is preparing a new deployment of soldiers and delivery of equipment.

"We estimate that North Korean troops, who have recently become participants in the fighting against Ukrainian forces, have suffered 1,100 losses," the South Korean military's joint chiefs of staff announced, with the term "losses" referring to both killed and wounded.

The South Korean joint chiefs of staff also noted preparations that lead them to believe North Korea is preparing to send new troops to Russia, either as reinforcements or to replace those already fighting.
