(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed the commander of the country's Armed Forces.
The most likely candidate to replace Valeriy Zaluzhny as the supreme commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the commander of the Ground Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky.
In addition to Syrsky, the candidacy of the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, for the position of supreme commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was previously considered by Volodymyr Zelensky and his inner circle.
"I have appointed Colonel-General Syrsky as the supreme commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Starting today, a new management team will take over the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I want the vision of the war to be the same for our soldiers in Robotyne or Avdiivka, in the General Staff and the Stavka.
I have had dozens of conversations with commanders at various levels. Specifically, today I spoke with Brigadier Generals Andriy Hnatov, Mykhailo Drapatyi, Ihor Skaybyuk, and Colonels Pavlo Palisa and Vadym Sukharevsky.
All of them are being considered for leadership positions in the army and will serve under the leadership of the most experienced Ukrainian commander. He has successful defensive experience - he led the defense operation of Kyiv. He also has successful offensive experience - the liberation operation of Kharkiv," Zelensky announced.
