(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a "coalition of the willing" summit will be held in Paris next week, a group of countries ready to finance peace efforts in Ukraine in case of a ceasefire agreement and to participate in them.
Zelensky said at a press conference yesterday with Czech President Petr Pavel that the summit will discuss future security guarantees for Ukraine.
- Next week I have a bilateral meeting with President Macron. We have many topics to discuss. I hope for a positive outcome of that meeting - said Zelensky.
After that meeting, a summit will follow where countries from the "coalition of the willing" will discuss the "appearance of the contingent's infrastructure" and "who is ready" to be part of the peace efforts in Ukraine.
- I would like us to reach some concrete conclusions. I discussed this with President Macron - added Zelensky.
The term "coalition of the willing" refers to a group of countries that are willing to voluntarily participate in international peace and security missions.
This idea was first proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron as part of discussions on international security guarantees for Ukraine after a potential ceasefire with Russia.
The goal of the "coalition of the willing" is to form multinational peacekeeping forces that would help monitor the ceasefire, prevent further conflicts, and guarantee Ukraine's security after a ceasefire is reached.
This initiative includes several European countries led by France and Great Britain, and the details will be further elaborated at the upcoming summit in Paris.
