(Patria) - Security guarantees for Ukraine will be ready "in the coming days," announced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky amid intensified efforts to end the Russian war against his country.
Following a phone call with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Zelensky posted details on the social network X.
"Currently, teams from Ukraine, the United States, and European partners are working on a solution," Zelensky wrote.
He stated that there is a "real opportunity to end this war," adding that Ukraine is "ready for constructive steps that can bring true peace closer".
However, he emphasized that Russia is not showing similar intentions.
I spoke with @MinPres, Dick Schoof.
Today is a very special day in Ukraine – National Flag Day. Thank you, Dick, for your important and warm words of support to our people, to all Ukrainians. We greatly value the assistance of the Netherlands and the solidarity of the Dutch… pic.twitter.com/rjXWAD3gIw— Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський (@ZelenskyyUa) August 23, 2025
"Russia is not showing any intention of peace from its side and continues to shell our cities. We interpret all signals coming from Moscow these days in the same way.
Pressure is needed to change their stance, as well as a meeting at the highest level to discuss all issues," Zelensky said.
Work on security guarantees has intensified following a meeting of European leaders at the White House last Monday.
On that occasion, US President Donald Trump stated that a bilateral meeting between Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin was being prepared.
However, frustrations have grown since then as Moscow shows reluctance regarding commitments to peace talks.
