(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday that he hopes he and Swiss President Viola Amherd will set a date for the World Peace Summit in Switzerland within a few days, with 80 to 100 countries, Reuters reported.
Russia has said such a meeting would be meaningless if it did not participate. Kyiv had previously proposed a world peace summit, but said Russia would not be invited.
Zelensky said in a television interview that he and the Swiss president would have to agree on a date between themselves, and then send invitations to world leaders.
- We expect to have 80 to 100 countries. This is the number of countries, I believe, that will be able to at least try to force Russia into a just peace - he said.
In an interview recorded during a visit to the Chernihiv region, where he visited fortifications on Friday, Zelensky stressed that they do not yet have a concrete list of countries.
- We will agree on how this will happen in the coming days. Days, I hope, not even weeks - Zelensky added.
