Zelensky Hopes Swiss Summit Could Increase Pressure on Moscow

(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes the peace summit in Switzerland will increase pressure on Moscow, but other participants in the conference are not so optimistic.

- The two-day summit of representatives from 92 countries and eight international organizations once again brings to the forefront the idea that war can be stopped through joint efforts and that trust and peace can be established - said Zelensky, after which the delegations began discussions.

- We have managed to give diplomacy a chance. Our goals are modest - said Swiss President Viola Amherd.

She explained that the summit's goal is to stimulate a process for creating lasting and just peace, adding that international law as the foundation of the international order is crucial for this.

- Russia's attack violates it in a very serious way - Amherd points out.

Russia was not invited to the conference, and neither will the representative of China, an important ally of Moscow, attend.

If there is even a minimal hope of achieving concrete results, the summit is considered an important sign of international solidarity with Ukraine.

It is also significant for achieving the broadest international support for Ukraine's peace plan with the complete withdrawal of Russia from Ukrainian territory, Reuters reports.
