Zelensky: I will meet Putin after agreeing on a joint plan with Trump and Europe

(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated today in Munich that he will only talk to Russian leader Vladimir Putin after agreeing on a joint plan with the US and European allies to end the war.

"I will only meet with one Russian, with Putin, and only after we agree on a joint plan with (US President Donald) Trump and Europe.

Then we will sit down and stop the war. I am ready to meet only in that case," Zelensky said at a press conference on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Asked about his relationship with Trump, he stated that the Republican president gave him his private phone number.

"It was funny... He told me I could call him anytime. I thanked him and reminded him that he told me that last time too, but he didn't give me the number.

He replied: 'OK, you can call me anytime,'" Zelensky commented on his conversation with Trump.

A few days ago, Trump unsettled allies when he spoke with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and announced the start of negotiations.

Zelensky insists that the US, Europe, and Ukraine must have a common stance before talking to Moscow, and the EU has warned Washington that an agreement with Putin cannot be reached behind the Old Continent's back.

The outlines of a future peace plan could emerge over the weekend in Munich, after Zelensky's meeting with US Vice President J.D. Vance.

Zelensky said he is ready to discuss everything, from sending peacekeeping forces to relations with NATO.

"However, the red line is the recognition of Russia's annexation of parts of Ukraine; that is enshrined in the Ukrainian constitution, and only the Ukrainian people can decide on border changes," Zelensky concluded.
