Zelenski: Only the US can convince Russia to stop the war

(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski believes that only the US can convince Russia to stop the war in Ukraine, at a time when representatives of Kyiv and Moscow are in Miami for a new round of negotiations.

- I think the United States and President Donald Trump have that power. And I think we should not look for an alternative to the US.

Any other choice raises doubts about the possibility of achieving peace - Zelenski said in response to a journalist's question.

According to him, Ukraine and its European allies should continue to support the current peace negotiations with Russia led by the US.

Zelenski was responding to a question about a statement by French President Emmanuel Macron, who suggested that Europe would have to re-engage in direct negotiations with Russia if US efforts fail.

He added that the current format is "worth fighting for," but also noted: "If it doesn't work, we will all think about other options."
