Zelensky: US wants Ukraine-Russia war to end by June

(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the United States is calling for the war with Russia to end by June of this year, adding that both sides have been invited to the US for talks next week.

"America has proposed for the first time that two negotiating teams, Ukraine and Russia, meet in the United States, possibly in Miami, in a week. We have confirmed our participation," Zelensky stated, BBC reports.

There has been no official comment from Washington or Moscow, but it is known that US President Donald Trump has advocated for ending this conflict since he took office again over a year ago.

Meanwhile, Russia has continued its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure after a pause requested by US President Donald Trump from Vladimir Putin due to extremely low temperatures in Ukraine.

Ukraine has also attacked Russia, hitting a factory that produces rocket fuel components in the western Tver region. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday blamed Ukraine for the shooting of a high-ranking Russian army general, saying the aim was to "disrupt the negotiation process." It is not yet known who was behind the shooting.
