Zelensky: Russia lost 90,000 soldiers in three months

(Patria) - In the last three months, Russian forces lost more than 90,000 soldiers, announced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This information was shared after a meeting with Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Digital Transformation, who is expected to soon take over the Ministry of Defense and implement its thorough reorganization, writes Kyiv Independent.

Zelensky specified that, according to data confirmed by available video footage from the front lines, 35,000 Russian soldiers were eliminated in December, 30,000 in November, and 26,000 in October.

He partially attributed this success to "technological solutions".

The news of the losses comes after Zelensky nominated Fedorov, the current Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, for the new Minister of Defense at the beginning of the year.

As stipulated by the Ukrainian Constitution, the appointment must also be approved by the parliament. Fedorov is expected to replace Denys Shmyhal, who held the position for less than six months.

Changes expected in the defense sector were discussed at the meeting.

According to Zelensky's statement, Fedorov is expected to present draft decisions aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities within a week.

- Of course, Ukraine is fully committed to diplomacy and wants to end this war as soon as possible. But Russia does not show a similar approach and continues its aggression.

We will counter this with greater technological progress and transformation of the defense sector - said Zelensky.

He emphasized the key role of technology in recent military successes.

- It is clear that (Ukrainian) technologies are functioning effectively. There is a clear increase in the delivery of drones to units - said Zelensky.

He also announced the preparation of new formats for further strengthening the drone component in defense.

Fedorov has been heading the Ministry of Digital Transformation since 2019 and is the only minister whose position has remained unchanged throughout Zelensky's entire presidential term.

He is known for implementing the "state in a smartphone" policy and launching the Diia application in 2020, which brought a range of government services directly to citizens' phones.

Under his leadership, the ministry has also led several projects related to drone production and education reform.

He also played a key role in launching the Brave1 project, which connects his ministry with the Ministry of Defense to improve military technology.
