Zelensky: We will lose the war without US aid blocked in Congress

(Patria) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned yesterday that his country will lose the war against Russia if the promised US aid of 60 billion dollars, announced by US President Joe Biden, remains blocked in Congress by Republicans.

The American program for military and economic aid to Kyiv worth 60 billion dollars has been blocked in Congress since last year due to divisions between Democrats and Republicans, who are preparing for the presidential elections in November.

The adoption of this aid has been suspended at the behest of supporters of former president and likely Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who refuse to consider the text in Congress, linking it to US immigration regulations.

In recent days, Zelensky has repeatedly called for the swift adoption of a new aid package, assessing that it is of "vital importance" for Ukraine.

Zelensky has long been asking his Western allies, among whom the US provides the greatest aid to his country, for more ammunition for his soldiers on the front and more air defense systems.

While awaiting a decision, Ukrainian soldiers are forced to save ammunition and face the strong Russian army.

The more numerous Russian army is gradually advancing on the eastern front into the Ukrainian part of Donbas and has regularly carried out attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure in recent weeks.
