SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Law on control and limited use of tobacco, tobacco and other smoking products, which provides for a ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces, private vehicles if a minor is present, as well as workplaces and public transport, will be considered at today's session of the FBiH Parliament.
The Delegation of the European Union in BiH, the office of the World Health Organization, and the Embassy of Switzerland in BiH sent a joint letter to the House of Representatives of the FBiH, the Prime Minister of FBiH Fadil Novalić, and the Federal Minister of Health Vjekoslav Mandić on Tuesday to confirm the importance of adopting the Law on Tobacco and Tobacco Products Control for the health of the residents of this entity, as well as fulfilling BiH's international obligations.
The US Embassy also commented on Twitter, emphasizing the importance of controlling and limiting the use of tobacco to protect the health of citizens.
A heated debate is expected at today's session, and there have already been some media discussions among deputies in recent days. While Sabina Ćudić (Our Party) believes there is no reason why this law should not be adopted, Irfan Čengić (SDP BiH) believes it will be a blow to the economy.
