Police Operation in Sarajevo Center Due to Murder in East Sarajevo

EAST SARAJEVO, SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Sarajevo police today intercepted a car with Montenegrin license plates near the US Embassy building with several patrol vehicles and placed the person found in the vehicle under surveillance, the Patria agency has learned.

The operation was carried out following the murder of Miloš Ostojić (1989) last night in front of the Sparta cafe in East Sarajevo. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton and requested assistance in finding a suspicious vehicle and driver who are suspected of being connected to the brutal murder of Ostojić. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton refuses to comment on today's operation. As the Patria agency has learned, they are now awaiting a decision from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska on whether they will take the person under surveillance into their jurisdiction.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska announced this morning that police officers of the Directorate for Organized and Serious Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, in cooperation with the Police Administration of East Sarajevo, and under the supervision of the prosecutor of the Republican Public Prosecutor's Office of Republika Srpska, are undertaking operational and investigative measures and actions to shed light on all circumstances and determine the identity of the person who committed the criminal offense of "Aggravated Murder" of the person with initials M.O. (1989) from East Sarajevo last night.

- An unknown person last night, 01.01.2019, around 11:05 PM in Karađorđeva Street in Istočno Novo Sarajevo, used a firearm to inflict serious bodily injuries on the person with initials M.O., who was then transported to the Public Health Institution Hospital Srbija, where he died shortly thereafter - the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska announced.
