Arrests in Republika Srpska over murder and robbery in Nikšić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) -

Police officers of the Administration for Organized and Serious Crime of the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska in the area of Srpska have deprived of liberty three persons who are being linked to a robbery in which a security guard of the post office in Nikšić was killed.

Two of the three persons are in custody, while one was questioned as a witness, the Ministry of Interior of Srpska told RTRS.

Several searches related to this case were conducted in the area of Srpska.

The Head of the Group for Suppression of Blood Crimes in the Sector for Fight against Crime in Montenegro, Lazar Šćepanović, said that the armed robbery of the post office in Nikšić involved a serious criminal offense - robbery qualified with fatal consequences, in which Ljubiša Mrdak was killed.

- I must especially emphasize that an immeasurable contribution to the clarification of this criminal offense through efficient, dedicated and professional undertaking of planned measures and actions, using all available capacities, was given by officers of law enforcement agencies of Republika Srpska, primarily the Administration for Fight against Serious and Organized Crime from Banja Luka and the Police Administration Trebinje, which is just one of the indicators of the high level of cooperation and mutual trust of regional police services - Šćepanović pointed out at today's press conference.

According to his words, based on collected material and personal evidence and established connections between the suspects, a criminal complaint was filed with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica against seven persons for whom there is reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of robbery qualified with fatal consequences as co-perpetrators.

He stated that in the area of Montenegro, two persons were deprived of liberty, M.K. from Nikšić and R.S. from Budva, who is originally from Banja Luka, and in cooperation with officers of the Administration for Organized and Serious Crime from Republika Srpska, two more persons were deprived of liberty, namely A.S. from Bileća, Z.P. from Banja Luka, while an intensive international search is underway for the suspects M.N., S.S. and B.D., and an Interpol international warrant is being issued.

He emphasized that I must mention that a significant role in providing the logistical support necessary for the realization of regional activities with representatives of the authorities of Republika Srpska was provided by colleagues from the Republic of Italy through the IPA 2019 project - "Fight against Serious Crime in the Western Balkans".

In the armed robbery of the post office in Nikšić on October 20, masked robbers killed security guard Ljubiša Mrdak and stole around 400,000 euros.

Because of this, Stefan Regojević from Trebinje with temporary residence in Budva was arrested.

The District Court in Banja Luka ordered a one-month detention for Stojan Albijanić from Bileća and Petar Zolak from Laktaši due to suspicion that they participated in this armed robbery.
