Serbia Removes Permanent Police Protection for BiH Embassy in Belgrade Due to Alleged Lack of Forces!

(Patria) - Serbian police have removed permanent police protection for the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Belgrade, Istraga.ba has learned.

The permanent police protection was removed about thirty days ago.

"We were told that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia does not have the capacity to protect our Embassy. They also told us that some other embassies would also lose permanent police protection. However, according to my information, no other regional country's embassy has had its permanent police protection removed," BiH Ambassador to Belgrade Aida Smajić told Istraga.ba.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH confirmed to us that they have been informed about the removal of police protection for the Embassy and Consulate in Belgrade.

"We received information from the Embassy. Checks and contacts have been initiated," we were told at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH. The BiH Ambassador to Belgrade says that the staff employed at the Embassy and Consulate feel unsafe.

"We lock ourselves in when we are at work. It is almost impossible to work without permanent police protection," Ambassador Smajić told us.

The BiH Embassy has sent several letters to the authorities of the Republic of Serbia, but essentially, nothing has changed. Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia have informed BiH diplomats that the police are not under their jurisdiction.

We remind you that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, attended the marking of the unconstitutional Day of Republika Srpska on January 9th of this year. In addition to Minister Dačić, several high-ranking officials from Serbia attended the marking of the Day of Republika Srpska, including the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Vladimir Orlić, Member of Parliament Milimir Vujadinović, Minister of Health Danica Grujičić, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nikola Selaković... Danilo Vučić, son of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, also attended the parade in Istočno Sarajevo and the celebrations in Banja Luka on the occasion of the Day of Republika Srpska, which the Constitutional Court of BiH declared unconstitutional.

After the data on Danilo Vučić's attendance at the marking of the unconstitutional Day of Republika Srpska was published, Serbian officials launched a campaign against media outlets in BiH, as well as institutions in BiH. The Serbian authorities, as we learn, intend to deliver a protest note to the BiH Ambassador in Belgrade due to the publication of documents related to Danilo Vučić.
