Vuk Drašković declared persona non grata in Pale due to statements about killing children in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Councillors of the Pale Municipal Assembly decided today that politician and writer Vuk Drašković be declared an undesirable person in that municipality due to "inappropriate and false statements in the media".

The President of the Pale Municipal Assembly, Damjan Škipina, said that Vuk Drašković uttered a series of untruths about Pale at the expense of Serbs in the past war.

Škipina stated that the decision to declare Drašković an undesirable person was made in response to the initiative of the President of the Supervisory Board of the Olympic Center "Jahorina", Nedeljko Elek.

In a letter to the Municipal Assembly, Elek stated that on October 2nd, while appearing on a TV program, Drašković claimed that 1,000 children were killed in Sarajevo by shells from Pale, and that "such lies cause enormous damage to this municipality".

"If we do not react and make it clear to such people that they cannot lie in the public space, there will be more and more such statements," Elek emphasized.
