California Reopens Businesses Due to Outbreak Surge

(Patria) – The governor of the US state of California, Gavin Newsom, on Monday ordered the reintroduction of restrictions for businesses and educational institutions due to a rapid increase in the number of new coronavirus infections.

Bars and restaurants, cinemas, zoos and museums, as well as fitness centers, churches and hairdressing salons are closing again in the most populous US state.

"We must soberly accept that Covid-19 will not go away anytime soon, i.e., until a vaccine and/or effective therapy appears," Newsom said at a press conference.

He believes that the new decision on restrictions is of "key importance" for curbing the epidemic, which has already burdened the health system in several rural counties of this American state.
