Due to ragweed, citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina are again experiencing allergic reactions

Emergency medical services in Bosnia and Herzegovina have an increased number of patients with allergy symptoms from spring to late autumn, and in August, ragweed reached its vegetation peak, writes the BiH news agency Patria. Severe forms of allergies often affect patients' daily lives and work. 

As doctor Nada Čivić, a renowned pulmonologist, previously stated, patients should not take allergy symptoms lightly, because if an allergy is not treated in time, it deepens and more severe forms appear.

There are numerous examples where a patient with an allergy develops asthma, precisely due to neglecting the allergy.

Allergies most often manifest as rhinitis, sinus inflammation, sneezing, watery and itchy eyes, and mild throat irritation. Čivić emphasized that it is necessary to protect oneself with general measures such as wearing hats or scarves, sunglasses, light long-sleeved shirts, regular showering after spending time in nature or outdoors, and airing out rooms.

Although the most common allergens are tree pollen, grass, and weeds, allergic reactions are also common to mites, cat dander, and other animals. A large number of people, especially children, also have reactions to certain food products such as peanuts, eggs, soy, cow's milk, and seafood.

Allergic symptoms also affect various organs - skin, respiratory system, digestive system, but also the entire organism. Whatever type of allergy you have, experts advise, consult a doctor who will determine adequate therapy and thus avoid the worsening of your general condition.
