Five-hour talks concluded: Kim promises - I will help my friend Putin in the fight against imperialism

(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un concluded their five-hour talks today at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia's Amur region, which they say strengthens friendly and good-neighborly ties and acts in the name of peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

At a celebratory reception hosted by Putin in his honor, Kim said he believes his visit to Russia is taking place at a time when "a fierce struggle between progress and reactionism, as well as justice and injustice, is taking place on the international stage," TASS reports.

"The process of building a multipolar world is developing strongly thanks to the common will and united forces of independent parties," stated the North Korean leader, who boarded his train and began his long journey to Pyongyang after the talks concluded.

Kim said he also discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula with Putin.

"Comrade Putin and I have just discussed in detail the military-political situation on the Korean Peninsula, as well as in Europe," he said, adding that he will help the Russian leader in his fight against imperialism.

Putin stated that Moscow will help North Korea in building space satellites, and that this is why Kim and he are at the Vostochny Cosmodrome today.

"That's why we came here. The leader of North Korea shows great interest in rocket technology, they are trying to develop a space program," Putin told reporters.

According to him, the current visit is also taking place in a truly comradely and friendly atmosphere.

"The extensive agenda, the program, includes a visit not only to the Vostochny Cosmodrome but also to other major high-tech clusters, industrial enterprises, and innovation centers in the Russian Far East," said the president.

North Korea launched two ballistic missiles into the sea this morning as a show of force during Kim's absence from the country.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un stated on Wednesday that relations with Russia are the top priority for his country.

At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur region, in the Far East, the North Korean leader thanked his Russian counterpart for the warm welcome and praised Russia's role and achievements in space exploration.

Kim said that Russian-North Korean friendship has "deep roots" and that the Soviet Union played a "very important role in the liberation of the country," the Kremlin announced.

"And now, relations with the Russian Federation are the top priority for our country. I am sure that our joint meeting will be another moment to raise our relations to a new level," Kim said.

He emphasized that Russia is waging a "sacred struggle" to defend its state sovereignty and security from hegemonic powers.

"We have always supported and will continue to support all decisions of President Putin, as well as the decisions of the Russian Government. I also hope that we will always be together in the fight against imperialism and for the construction of a sovereign state," said the North Korean leader.

The Russian president noted that the meeting is taking place in the year when the two nations are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

"Of course, we must also discuss economic cooperation and humanitarian issues," Putin said.

Putin and Kim then toured several facilities at the cosmodrome and new infrastructure.

Vostochny is Russia's first civilian spaceport. It is located in the Amur region near the town of Tsiolkovsky. Construction began in 2012, and the first launch from Vostochny took place in 2016.
