Prison guards reveal: Šerak returned to KPZ Zenica on the order of the Ministry of Justice

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After prisoner Adnan Šerak was transferred from KPZ Sarajevo to KPZ Zenica on February 16, a new letter sent by prison guards of KPZ Sarajevo on February 18 reveals the background of the entire case.

Namely, the director of KPZ Sarajevo, Faruk Zubčević, stated in an interview with some media that Šerak had completed the process of „resocialization“ and was therefore returned to KPZ Zenica. Zubčević has not responded for the second month to the inquiry of the Novinska agencija Patria as to whether, during his stay in KPZ Sarajevo, Šerak was granted certain privileges such as access to a laptop, TV, and freedom of movement within the prison to make his stay as calm as possible, given his known history of violence.

In one of the earlier letters, prison guards wrote that Šerak attacked the duty officer as well as the assistant director for treatment through the cell bars.

In the latest letter, prison guards write that the inspector for prisons of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Miralem Duranović, was in KPZ Sarajevo on the order of Minister of Justice Mate Jozić following media reports of irregularities in that prison. The inspector proposed the urgent return of Šerak to KPZ Zenica.

However, the Minister of Justice of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mato Jozić, denied that Šerak was transferred on his order.

Prison guards also reveal other shocking details regarding prisoners in KPZ Sarajevo.

„Director Zubčević knows and approves that convict Sabitović Anis, a key witness in the escape of Sejfović Amel, works in the Institute's canteen and uses Facebook on the canteen computer. The prison guard cannot enter the canteen because the director placed a ball instead of a latch on the outside of the door. We cannot enter without knocking on the door, which gives him time to log off Facebook and then open the door for us,“ the prison guards state.

The letter further states that the computer from the canteen should be urgently seized and examined to determine how it was used, as it was not removed like the laptop that Zubčević took from Šerak before the search by the Federal Police Administration.

„After the search and the departure of the Federal Police Administration, he returned it until your publication,“ the prison guards state.
