(Patria) - Early parliamentary elections were held today in Montenegro. 542,468 citizens had the right to vote. 15 lists participated in the electoral race. Today's election day was characterized by significantly lower turnout than in previous parliamentary and presidential elections.
These are the third elections in the last nine months – local elections were held in most Montenegrin municipalities in October last year, followed by two rounds of presidential elections in March and April. Executive Director of the Center for Monitoring and Research (CeMI) Ana Nenezić told RTCG that they could finish this election day with a turnout of around 60 percent, which would be the lowest voter turnout since the introduction of multi-party system in Montenegro.
Polling stations closed at 8 PM.
Turnout by regions as of 7 PM in the parliamentary elections: north 51.8 percent, center 53.4 percent, south 44.7 percent.
Comparative turnout in parliamentary elections as of 7 PM: presidential (1st round) 2023 – 60.5 percent, parliamentary elections 2020 – 74.9 percent, and parliamentary elections 2016 – 71.6 percent.
