As of today, the competition for the selection of the new SIPA Director has officially closed, and as the Patria News Agency has learned, seven envelopes with applications have been received, with the possibility that some more may arrive if sent by mail.
The Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina is conducting the selection procedure, and the list, consisting of a maximum of five candidates, will be forwarded to the State Minister of Security, after which he will propose one from the list to the Council of Ministers for confirmation of appointment.
The new head of SIPA, who will replace acting director Đuro Knežević, should be appointed by October 5. For now, it is known that this position will go to someone from the Serb people, and judging by the constellation of relations in state government, it could be a police officer close to the Alliance for Change.
We remind you that the former SIPA director Goran Zubac was dismissed after being found guilty of dereliction of duty before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As SIPA director, he refused to assist the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies when the Presidency of BiH building was set on fire during violent unrest on February 7, 2014.
